Project 2: Ngenda Road – BTL – Gitambaya Water Pipeline
The Ngenda Road–BTL–Gitambaya Water Pipeline Project is one of the key priority interventions under the Karimenu II Dam bulk water supply program, aimed at improving water distribution and service reliability within the Gitothua Ward, specifically Gitambaya and Membley estates. The project was designed to absorb approximately 10,000 m³/day from the new bulk system and enable continuous 24-hour water supply in the targeted service areas.
Construction works commenced in July 2023 and are now substantially complete.
The scope of works comprised the construction of a 10.5 km HDPE transmission pipeline, consisting of:
- 6 km – DN 450 mm
- 2.5 km – DN 355 mm
- 2.0 km – DN 225 mm
The pipeline runs from Ruiru–Githunguri Road Junction through Membley to Gitambaya at a total project cost of approximately KES 175 million.
The project is currently in the testing and commissioning phase and has already begun supplying water to Membley Estate, including the BTL area, marking a significant milestone in enhancing water access and reliability within Ruiru Sub-County.
Project 3: Murram-Kenyatta Road Water Project
The project was designed to deliver approximately 4,000 m³/day of water to a target population of 40,000 residents within the Kenyatta Road area of Kalimoni Ward and Theta Ward. Construction commenced in April 2023 and were substantially completed in April 2025.
The scope of works involved the construction of a 6.4 km DN 315 mm HDPE pipeline from the Juja/Karimenu offtake at Murram to Kenyatta Road, at a total cost of KES 57 million.
The pipeline project has successfully met its intended objectives, following the implementation of interconnections to the existing distribution networks in Kenyatta Road and Ebenezer (Theta Ward), thereby improving water supply reliability and service coverage in the area.
